On January 31st, 2011 GlobalMedic Rapid Response Team (RRT) volunteers donated 1,000 boxes of cereal to the Children’s Breakfast Club. The cereal was donated through a drive held by paramedic students at Humber College and GlobalMedic volunteers. Toronto Emergency Medical Services joined in on the cause and provided one of their support buses to give tours to the children participating in the Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club program is designed to get kids off to a great start in the morning by giving them a nutritious and filling meal. RRT volunteers and Humber College students cooked breakfast for children at the Jane and Falstaff Club, which is named after Toronto Paramedic Richard Boustead. Boustead, who died of cancer, was a strong proponent of charitable work and helping children.
