On July 10th, 2011, GlobalMedic hosted its Second Annual Motorcycle Support Ride. The ride started at Woodbine Racetrack in Etobicoke where riders enjoyed music, coffee, and donuts while they registered and perused raffle items. After picking the first of 5 cards for a poker hand and the opening prayer by a Minister who prayed for a safe journey for all involved, the riders set off in the beautiful sunny weather to the first of three stations on the route. At each station riders could stretch, get some water, and pick another card for their poker hand.
The ride ended at about 2:30 at Chinguacousy Park in Brampton, where volunteers had set up GlobalMedic’s inflatable field hospital and other equipment used in disaster situations, a pitching speed booth (courtesy of IG Investors), lunch and an ice cream truck. Congratulations goes to Chris Mundreon for having won the grand prize of a Stinger trailer with his poker hand of two pairs.
The day would not have been possible without all the hard work and dedication of the lead organizer, Grant Mansell. We at GlobalMedic wish to thank Grant for his tremendous efforts, and we’d like to thank all the volunteers who came out and helped make the day a success. Thank you also to our sponsors who made donations or gifts in kind. All funds raised will be going towards GlobalMedic’s overseas operational programming. If you weren’t able to make it this year, we hope you’ll be able to for next year’s event. Mark your calendars now!
