The Falstaff Breakfast Club for Kids was started in 1984 to provide the children of the Jane/Falstaff community with a nutritious meal to start their day. The program grew to become a safe place for children to get exposure to cultural events like Caribana and Black History Month.
The Toronto Children's Breakfast Club is a non-profit charitable organization, operated by donations from corporations and individuals, holds the philosophy that every child is entitled to a nutritious breakfast. An estimated 4,000 to 5,000 school age children are fed a nutritious breakfast weekly and are offered social and intellectual stimulation at the17 breakfast clubs operating across Toronto .
On May 3rd, 2007 Liberty donated the equivalent of 1000 boxes of cereal to help support the Toronto Children's Breakfast Club. The donation will be coordinated through Global Medic, a group of Toronto area professional rescuers who volunteer their time to respond to disasters around the world. Global Medic team members, specifically paramedics, will be handing the donation over to officials from the Breakfast Club. The paramedics will also interact with the young beneficiaries of the Breakfast Club program in an effort to bridge the gap that exists between the uniformed emergency services community and the communities they serve.
