Floods In Kenya

Mission in Kenya

February 2007

Both Kenya and Somalia suffered from massive flooding in November and December of 2006. Despite a decrease in displaced persons since the initial flooding, there is still a need for humanitarian assistance to approximately 1 million people.

Although the numbers of IDPs has decreased by nearly half, there has been an increase in the number of cases of water-borne diseases. The upsurge is linked to prolonged exposure to poor post-flooding conditions. Accordingly, GlobalMedic has just shipped 2.8 million Aquatabs to our local partner Mercy Corps.
