Mission in Pakistan

July 2007

Global Medic has successfully established a base of operations in Kamber District on the border of Balochistan and Sindh. The operational base is providing the following:

  • Essential primary medical care to a displaced population of over 50,000 people

  • Distribution of water tablets and essential medicines to other regional clinics to ensure adequate supplies are available to treat patients

  • Distribution of 30,000 litres daily of purified water with a capacity to produce 144,000 litres daily

  • Installation of 12 water purification systems in isolated regions to populations who are cut off from aid and resources with a capacity to service 9600 beneficiaries

  • Distribution of 3.25 million water purification tablets

The operational base camp is the only one in the region from a major international NGO or donor group. Several meetings have been held with other agencies and this camp will become a hub for the delivery of relief items including hygiene kits, food items, and for the launching of vaccination programs. This joint effort will avoid duplication and maximize efficiency.
