After 4 days of heavy rains, central Vietnam has suffered enormous damage. The country’s 3 provinces; Nghe An, Quang Binh and Ha Tinh were destroyed by flood waters which are also responsible for the lives of 102 people, with another 38 missing and 93 injured. The flood has damaged more than 200,000 homes and ruined about 56,000 hectares of crops. 660,000 people have been affected by this disaster leaving most of them homeless, with no food or water.


There is a crucial need clean drinking water to prevent many water borne diseases with the main one being cholera.

Global Medic has sent in relief goods capable of providing 1.9 million litres of clean drinking water, as well as Oral Rehydration Sachets which will provide 2,400 patients treatment for severe diahhrea as a result of drinking contaminated water. Global Medic’s partner on the ground, Mines Advisory Group (MAG), has begun distributing the goods to the flood victims in Vietnam.
