Hurricane Noel

Mission in Dominican Replubic

November 2007

The GlobalMedic team has successfully started off their mission in the Dominican Republic .

Their base camp is at the Basama Clinic in Billa Alticia.

The area near Basama was completely wiped out. The entire village has been washed away. Reports indicated that approximately 40 people died from the floods, but others claim it is much higher. There is no access to most areas of the town as people have been evacuated and not permitted to return yet due to dangerous conditions.

A clinic has been set up at Iglesia DeDios Pentacostal Church where 99 people are living there full time. The others are with friends and family.

The clinics medical supplies have been depleted by the increase of illness and injury.

So far, the team has distributed 153,200 tablets of essencial medicines and started to distribute clean drinking water with the Trekker units.
