On October 19, 2018, heavy rains resulted in devastating floods on the island of Trinidad. This was the worst flooding the island has seen in 50 years. Regions most affected are the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation, the Tunapuna-Piarco Regional Corporation, the Couva-Tabaquite-Talparo Regional Corporation, and the Mayaro-Rio Claro region. Between 100,000 and 150,000 people were affected by the flooding in these areas.
