BRITISH COLUMBIA WILDFIRE RESPONSE 2017

Author: Cameron Strandberg from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada

Over 45,000 people have been displaced from their homes due to raging wildfires in British Columbia. Evacuated families are staying at 11 emergency reception centres opened across the province. As of July 15, 2017, over 2,600 evacuees have registered in Kamloops, which brought the Emergency Social Service (ESS) Reception Centre at the Sandman Centre near to capacity. GlobalMedic and GlobalFire are partnering with Procter & Gamble to provide wash and fold services at a Kamloops laundromat to the evacuated families.
