INDONESIA    

EARTHQUAKE & TSUNAMI RESPONSE 2018

On September 28, 2018, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Central Sulawesi, Indonesia with aftershocks continuing to be felt for days. The earthquake triggered a tsunami which struck Talise beach in Palu City and parts of Donggala.

Over 2.4 million people have been affected by this event across 6 regencies and 85 districts. Across 934 affected villages, almost 2,000 fatalities, over 10,000 injuries and 835 missing people have been confirmed. More than 74,000 people have been evacuated and are being housed in evacuation camps.

GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team has been deployed to respond to the overwhelming humanitarian needs of the earthquake-affected population. The RRT will be distributing clean water solutions and hygiene items to support the health of Indonesian families.
