KERALA FLOOD RESPONSE 2018

Monsoon season has caused the worst flooding that Kerala, India has seen in decades. Over 500 people have been killed and 750,000 people have been displaced. Thousands of kilometers of roads have been damaged or destroyed and many airstrips and waterways are inaccessible due to the flood waters.

GlobalMedic has delivered relief programming in India for many years and has emergency water purification solutions stored in country with our local partner. A team from our partner organization has distributed 100,000 water purification tablets and installed five AP700 point of source water purification units. Each unit can provide emergency drinking water for up to 1,000 people a day without requiring electricity. The team has installed these units in clinics, schools, and shelters to ensure people have access to clean drinking water.

Our Rapid Response Team was deployed to distribute Family Emergency Kits to the affected areas.
