Jamie Cross – Emergency Programs Officer
On Tuesday, January 22, 2019, GlobalMedic recognized the excellent work of our volunteers by awarding 31 Volunteer Recognition Medals in a ceremony held at Queen’s Park and which was presided over by the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
Volunteers are integral to GlobalMedic’s operations and we are thankful for the support we receive on a daily basis. In all aspects of our organization, we rely on volunteers to help us lower the cost of sending aid, which allows us to reach as many people in need as possible.
Volunteers help us assemble aid, develop new programs, make deliveries of our goods to local shelters, pick up orders, help us run packing events for our corporate partners, represent us at trade-shows and conferences, and of course deploy with the Rapid Response Team to execute life-saving operations around the world.
They lend their expertise whether it be digital skills, marketing, photography, videography, fundraising, proposal writing or warehouse organization. Our volunteers come from such a diverse background that we are always able to find someone to lend a hand.

The ceremony held on Tuesday was to recognize some of our volunteers who go above and beyond to help GlobalMedic send aid where it is needed most. The following volunteers are the 2019 recipients of the GlobalMedic Volunteer Recognition Medal:
They are generous with their time and skill sets, and they allow us to keep operations at the highest pace possible. The recipients this year are a diverse group of volunteers whose contributions vary vastly, but the one thing they have in common is their dedication and commitment to the mission of GlobalMedic.
Each role they play is important, whether it is helping in the warehouse or deploying to a disaster zone, we would not be able to do what we do without them.
