There are several great platforms that make online fundraising easy, and the funds will come directly to us so there is no need to worry about any bank transfers. Some of them will even give tax receipts to your donors! See below for details on some of the platforms we suggest – just be aware that most sites take a % off each donation for fees so do your research before setting one up.
CanadaHelps – this is our top suggestion for running a fundraiser. Their site allows you to set up your own fundraiser (your branding and your words) in just a few minutes and point the funds towards GlobalMedic initiatives. The fee is 4.0%, and they issue tax receipts for all donations. You can click here to get started.
Facebook – you can also fundraise via Facebook. The Paypal Giving Fund handles Canadian donations and will issue tax receipts as they are a registered charity. They state that no transaction fee is taken. In order to set up a fundraiser for us, click here. You will see “Select Nonprofit” button. You will have to type in our full registered name “David McAntony Gibson Foundation”. Then just follow the on-screen instructions – the funds will be transferred directly to us in about 30 days.
GoFundMe – this is a very popular crowdfunding site, and we are able to receive funds raised on this platform. GoFundMe charges a “payment processing fee” of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Tax receipts are not issued for donations made on this platform. To start a fundraiser on GoFundMe, please click here. When asked to find a charity, you can enter “GlobalMedic” or our CRA Number 882588619RR0001. Donations will be sent directly to us at the end of the fundraiser.
Events
We have many amazing groups that have hosted events and donated the proceeds to GlobalMedic. Everything from an annual volleyball tournament, a film festival, bake sales, and even lemonade stands! We can provide t-shirts to sell, brochures, banners, demo units, and a speaker or a few volunteers as needed. Please contact us at [email protected] if you are interested in holding an event for us!
