Transaction Fees
100% of the publicly donated money that GlobalMedic receives goes into programming. However, CanadaHelps deducts a 3.75% service fee for each online donation. This amount is deducted before the donation is sent to the charity. This 3.75% covers all credit card merchant fees, transaction fees, banking costs, receipting, reconciliations and disbursements.
What are your administration costs?
Our administration costs are 2-3% of our overall expenses. They are kept this low because we maintain a small staff that focuses on operations, we rely on volunteers who carry out the bulk of our programming, and our Executive Director is not compensated. Our administration costs are fully covered by institutional donors, so 100% of funds from the public go towards our charitable programs.
Why CanadaHelps?
CanadaHelps is a Canadian non-profit that exists to be a “PayPal for charities”. They offer us lower transactional fees and greater support services, which means we are able to be more efficient with your donations.
See the CanadaHelps site for more information, or contact the office and we would be happy to tell you more about it.
Do you accept donations of goods?
GlobalMedic accepts bulk corporate donations (palleted goods such as hygiene items, food, and personal protective equipment).
Please note: We cannot accept individual, household, or small-batch donations, including small supplies, used items, or community clothing drives. We do not have the capacity to process or store unmonitored goods at our facilities.
If you represent a company offering bulk or palleted goods, please submit your proposal to [email protected] so our logistics team can review it.
What is an Emergency Relief Fund?
A donation to the Emergency Relief Fund gives us the flexibility to rapidly respond to an emergency anywhere in the world. If you would like to donate to a specific crisis, please choose the corresponding fund.
