THE RAPID RESPONSE TEAM

 WHAT IS THE RRT?

The Rapid Response Team (RRT) is the “pointy-end of the spear” for our Responses and Programs.

These are the volunteers, many of them professional first-responders, that activate on short-notice to deploy whenever large-scale disasters and emergencies occur. The members have all received basic training in our Emergency Programs as well as completing an online training program in humanitarian aid (which is provided free of charge).

As a member of the RRT you will be put on a call-out list. When we are organizing a Response and need volunteers to deploy you will be notified and have the opportunity to apply. The lead times can be quite short, sometimes 24 hours or less, sometimes more, so the members need to be willing and able to scramble on a moments notice.

Step 1 was registering and getting onto our volunteer email list.  If you already did that, and you have a username and password, then you can simply login and complete Step 2-  which is filling in all the information fields in your profile.

That process only takes about 5 minutes, and once you are registered you will be able to log in to your own private page where you can find more information and links for the final steps to becoming a deployable volunteer with the Rapid Response Team.

Once you are registered you can always login and complete the rest of your profile at your convenience.

You cannot apply to be part of the Rapid Response Team until your full profile is complete.

See the RRT page for more information about becoming a deployable volunteer.

If you have not yet filled out your initial registration (Step 1) you can use this form here as well.  Please do not register yourself more than once.

A couple of important points:

1 – It is not necessary to be a medic to volunteer with us.

Anyone can join GlobalMedic as a volunteer. While many of our members are rescue professionals and first responders, we have many volunteers from all walks of life and value everyone’s skill-set and potential to contribute to humanitarian aid.

2 – It is also not necessary to deploy abroad to help out with GlobalMedic. There are lots of ways to get involved and support our Responses from within Canada.

If you are registered you will receive emails to notify you of domestic volunteer opportunities where you can help those in need without having to travel.
