April 16, 2016 at 18:58 Ecuador Standard Time, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador. The disaster killed 673 people and injured more than 27,732. More than 750,000 people were affected.
Within 60 hours of the devastating earthquake, GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team deployed to respond by providing humanitarian aid including; Search and Rescue assistance, clean water, hygiene items, and UAV mapping.

GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team immediately deployed Ground Penetrating Radar Systems to the disaster zone. This advanced technology was used to help identify signs of human life beneath the rubble, and help rescue teams focus their efforts as they continued to fight to save lives.
The RescUAV Team mapped more than 3,500 acres of the disaster area, and captured aerial imagery of severely damaged buildings to provide key information to the Government of Ecuador and local responders.
The Rapid Response Team also worked to restore access to clean drinking water for those affected by the earthquake. 10 Trekker Water Purification Systems were installed in different areas to provide communities with access to drinking water. An AquaResponse 10 Water Purification System was deployed and provided 10,000 people per day with clean water.
Additionally, the RRT distributed 176,000 Aquatab Water Purification Tablets at schools and other public buildings. Nearly 1,800 Family Emergency Kits containing a Rainfresh Water Purification Unit and basic hygiene items were distributed to support families in need.
