On August 26, 2026 a catastrophic flash flood swept through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli River corridors, severely impacting communities along Nepal’s northern border and down through the central region. The torrent caused extensive damage to homes, marketplaces, roads, bridges, and critical hydropower facilities.
Rescue operations are ongoing under difficult conditions, with persistent landslide risks along the mountainous border terrain slowing search efforts. Early estimates indicate over 93,000 people have been directly affected, with urgent needs centered on clean drinking water, emergency food, shelter, and active search-and-rescue support.

GlobalMedic is responding. We are offering direct aid to local partners through our core response tools:
RescUAV Program: Rapid aerial mapping using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Our UAV teams capture high-resolution imagery over hard-to-reach terrain, providing situational awareness, mapping hazard zones, and aiding search-and-rescue teams on the ground.
Family Emergency Kits (FEKs): Designed to help displaced families manage immediate survival needs. Each kit includes a household water purification unit, a solar light, and essential hygiene items like soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. The included filter can supply a household with clean drinking water for up to a year.
Emergency Food Kits (EFKs): Packed with shelf-stable staples like rice, beans, and lentils. These nutritious, culturally familiar foods require minimal preparation, ensuring families on the move have reliable access to nourishment without risking spoilage.
AquaResponse Units: High-capacity water filtration systems capable of purifying surface water – such as rivers, ponds, or cisterns – to provide safe drinking water for over 2,000 people daily. Designed for public installation, these units feature a three-stage filtration process to strip out particulates, parasites, and harmful bacteria at temporary shelters, clinics, or community kitchens.
Our response will continue to evolve as partners complete on-the-ground assessments and priority needs shift.
